Please note the Herne Hill velodrome usually closes for the winter in October, but don't forget that Calshot indoor track is available all year round.   Fowlmead Circuit (nr Deal) Check the Fowlmead website for new autumn/winter schedules. These are good ways to gain experience in a closed circuit environment. British Schools Cycling Association Please check the website for details of all events.   The courses follow the 3-term pattern of the schools. Each course lasts 10 weeks and there is a syllabus for each of the  levels : Beginners - Level 1 Developers - Level 2 Racers - Level 3 Racers Plus - Level 4 Members can pass the weekly courses, or gain a pass with credit, or pass with distinction, depending on how well they perform in the various disciplines. Members have competed at Team Darenth (Wilmington), Eastway, Crystal Palace and Canterbury, while regular trips to Footscray Meadows and Joydens Wood have proved popular with all members. Occasionally, there are outings to different venues to allow the members to try out their newly-learned skills in a variety of environments. Riders also put on a skills demo at the Danson Festival in the summer. 2 small teams and several coaches were on-hand to provide information, as well as a British Cycling rep. Organised Events   Some of the older riders are involved in competing in local races :     e.g. BSCA Hill Climb Championships, Winter Cyclo-Cross League, Herne Hill Track League, Crystal Palace circuit racing, Go-Ride interclub events and the London Youth Games.
